12. The Keeper Of The Light

Tonight, the unexpected
slash and thrust of a frozen gust
at 14 degrees, while
the big moon asserts, maybe
more than menaces,
in perfect yellow symmetry
working it's mysterious powers
over the rising winds and
plummeting temperature.

I know who you are instinctively,
though I can't claim to understand you.

Tonight, I would be
otherwise alone
in darkness.

  1. "asserts, maybe more than menaces" - and I thought I was the only one to have felt menaced by the moon.
